Jamie Vardy makes decision on Leicester exit after relegation 's*** show' (2025)

Jamie Vardy has fuelled speculation that he will leave Leicester City byblasting himself, teammates and the club following their relegation from the Premier League.

Leicester lost 1-0 at the King Power to Liverpool on Sunday, a result that leaves the Reds on the verge of becoming champions and condemns the Foxes to relegation.

It’s been a dismal campaign for the club whose form got even worse after Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy was appointed to replace Steve Cooper in November.

The future of the manager and his squad is now up in the air, with reports claiming that nearly every player will be up for sale in the summer.

Among those who could depart is Vardy, who joined Leicester in 2012 and famously fired them to the Premier League title in 2016 and the FA Cup in 2021.

Only two players have made more appearances and scored more goals for the Foxes than the former England striker, finding the back of the net 198 times in 487 games.

And with seven goals, he is Leicester’s top scorer in the Premier League this season, despite turning 38 in January.

Addressing supporters on Monday, a furious Vardy posted on Instagram: ‘At this point I don’t even know what to say. No words I have can ever express my feelings of anger and sadness with the way this season has gone. There are no excuses.

‘Collectively, as players and as a club, we failed. There is simply no hiding, and I refuse to entertain any suggestion of doing so.

‘Having been at this club for so long, we’ve experienced so many highs and successes – and this season has been nothing but miserable and for me personally, a total embarrassment.

‘It hurts, and I know you’re feeling it too. To the fans: I’m sorry. Sorry we haven’t performed and sorry we end the 2025 season with such a s**t show.’

With his contract up in the summer, many have wondered whether this is Vardy’s last season at the King Power, but The Sun report that he is yet to decide on his future.

It is said the decision will also depend on what Van Nistelrooy or his potential replacement thinks but the veteran striker has decided one thing: If he leaves, he will not join another English club.

There is interest in Vardy, who also played for Stocksbridge Park Steels, Halifax Town and Fleetwood Town, from MLS teams in the USA.

Speaking on his podcast, Man Utd legend Gary Neville backs this thinking from Vardy, saying the ex-Three Lions star has three options: ‘He either stays at Leicester for next season, goes abroad, or completely goes [retires].

‘I can’t see Jamie Vardy playing for anyone else in the Championship and I don’t see him being signed by another Premier League club.

‘If his body feels right he should continue. He’s obviously lost a yard of pace, but I think there are opportunities now that exist in America or in other parts of the world where you can go and play, you can enjoy yourself.

‘I think [he should] stay at Leicester. Why not? Do they not needJamie Vardyin theChampionship?

‘They’re going to have a lot more of the ball, they’re going to dominate the games. He knows how to work in the box in short spaces – he’s got better at that.

‘There may be a position for him for 25-35 games next season, get maybe 10-15 goals. ‘He still could be someone [who is] important for them.’
